Snooker round-up: Tulips B seize command with crushing Consti win

The Division One title looks to be Tulips B’s to lose after they enjoyed another fine week in Spalding and District Snooker League.

Tulips are four points clear at the top of the table – with two games in hand – after beating Consti F 5-1 on Thursday night.

A 31 break from Joe Garland (scr) and Mark Woodberry’s (O49) 25 clearance were the highlights for the Spalding side.

Long-term table-toppers Donington C saw their downturn in form continue with a 5-1 defeat at Services A – despite a super 49 break from Neil Reynolds (O56).

He was actually beaten by Mike Knight (O21), who sank a 25 break of his own.

Second-placed Holbeach A are now Tulips B’s main threat, having beaten Gosberton B 4-2.

A sensational 66 break from Jem Merrison (O35) was the high point of their win.

Meanwhile, Pyramid B will also think they are in with a shout in fourth place.

They beat club-mates Pyramid A 4-2 thanks to a final-frame black-ball win from Alfonso Palumbo (O49).

The Bourne side are eight points off the lead, but have only played one game more than the leaders.

Elsewhere in the top tier, a 45 break from Kev Fitter couldn’t stop Services C losing 4-2 at home against Boundary A, while Mark Gray’s (O105) 33 break helped Bourne SC A beat hosts Whittlesey A 4-2.

In Division Two, Holbeach C boosted their promotion hopes with a 4-2 home success over Gosberton A.

Nick Edwards (R7) sealed the win in the final frame.

At the other end of the table, Gosberton D did their promotion hopes the power of good by beating Services F 5-1. That game saw breaks of 25 and 24 by Gosberton’s Shane Davies (O14) and Simon Slinger (scr).

Pyramid D also propelled themselves clear of the drop zone with a 4-2 derby victory over friendly foes Pyramid C as James Sharpe (O49) sank a cool 20 break.

Also reeling off 20 breaks were Zac Roweltt (O7) and Phil Coaten (O14), as they helped Holbeach B win 4-2 at Whittlesey C.

In Division Three, Long Sutton C are now five points behind leaders Crowland A after losing 5-1 to Consti J.

Third-placed Services B took full advantage by winning 5-1 at Consti C – and are now just five points behind Sutton in the race for promotion, with a game in hand.

Only a black-ball win from Keith Wells (O28) prevented Consti clinching a whitewash.

Nick Savic (O49) was once again on form for Consti A, making breaks of 42 and 26 in a 4-2 loss at Services D, while Pete Hodgson-Kerry (O35) notched up a 23 as his Bourne SC B side were handed a 4-2 home reverse by Pyramid E.
