Singers take to the seas

All things maritime will be the theme of the South Holland Singers’ next concert, which is due to be held at St Laurence Church, Surfleet, on Saturday, November 9, at 7.30pm.

‘Songs of the Sea’ will feature a range of music including traditional sea shanties and Henry Wood’s ‘Fantasia on British Sea Songs’, much of which will be familiar to the audience from the Last Night of the Proms.
Tickets are £10 and are available from choir members, Bookmark, The Crescent, Spalding, The Flower Basket, Fleet Street, Holbeach, on the door on the evening or online at www.southhollandsingers.co.uk
Under 18s are admitted free of charge.
The South Holland Singers rehearse every Thursday evening at Spalding Baptist Church in Swan Street, from 7.15pm to 9.15pm during the autumn and spring terms.
The choir, whose musical director is Samantha Graper, usually gives two concerts a year but also gets involved in other events in the area.
New members are always welcome – there are no auditions and although an ability to read music is helpful, it is not essential.
