Shepherds’ huts plans for farm site

An application for Shepherds’ huts for holiday-makers in Gedney Hill has been made to South Holland District Council.

Part of the lakeside site already has a lodge in place since 2017 for the family to use at Hillgate Farm, Station Road.

But in 2024 Hillgate Lodges was established with an additional four shepherds’ huts being set up around the south side of the lake.

The site is used about 13 or 15 weekends a year with mainly three of the huts in use, says a design and access statement accompanying the application.

“They are an adult only venture where couples come to relax and fish for a few days at a time,” says the document.

“There is provision for cooking however, some guests use the local restaurants and pubs within the area,” it adds.

The main site is a pig farm and the owner has diversified ‘to be able to maintain his business.’
