Seb Hayes admits that he’s now feeling a lot more comfortable in the Holbeach United hot-seat.
The Tigers chief, who had steered his side to six wins from eight matches after Wednesday night’s 4-2 win over Newport Pagnell Town, now feels that they can finish the season with a flourish.
After publicly questioning his players following a string of poor performances, it seems that Hayes and his side are now working well together – something he wants to see more of on Saturday.
A trip to Eynesbury Rovers (3pm) represents a chance to emulate Holbeach’s best performance under the former Peterborough Northern Star chief.
The Tigers humbled high-flying Rovers 2-0 at Carter’s Park back on February 25 – and Hayes insists that performance remains the benchmark for his team.
“We were great that day,” said Hayes. “We did everything right and it proved to me that this group can beat anybody on their day.
“Eynesbury have picked up a bit recently after a bad run of their own, but we will go there full of confidence and looking to continue our positive momentum.
“We want to go there and play football, so their pitch will suit us down to the ground.
“I believe the players are capable of getting another win, for sure.
“I’m also feeling much more comfortable in the job. Football has a habit of slapping you in the face when you get too comfortable, though.
“I’ve always said that I want to build something here and I now feel settled.
“Some players have moved on and others have made themselves unavailable, but we seem to have found the right mix now.
“We’ve got decent options for Saturday, barring any knocks on Wednesday, and we’re all focused on finishing the season in a positive manner.”
Hayes is without midfielder Stuart Muldrew, who is unavailable until the final game of the season.
Dan Jenkins and Jamie Stevens remain sidelined, but Tommy Treacher and Dan Dougill are both back after missing Saturday’s 4-2 victory at Harborough Town.
Should the Tigers win, it’ll be four victories on the spin.
