A service of dedication has been held for the new poppy memorial in St Nicholas Church at Lutton.
It comprises a poppy for each of the men named on the village’s war memorial, with five original Tower of London poppies and a further 20 which were commissioned.
They were mounted on to a steel frame, constructed by Lin Secker and staff of Secker Engineering Holbeach.
Fundraising events and donations enabled the Friends of St Nicholas to also reframe existing war memorabilia and a new brass dedication plaque.
The service, led by Fr Jonathan Sibley, consisted of the standards and escorts of Gedney Drove End and Long Sutton branches of Royal British Legion and Long Sutton RBL ladies’ section, RAFA, and Royal Lincolnshire and Royal Anglian Regiment Spalding Branch.
Also there were Burma Star recipients and World War Two veterans Douglas Marsh and Alan Barkes.
Friends of St Nicholas organised the service, with member Wendy Jeffries saying it was “wonderful, respectful and uplifting”.
