Schools support appeal

Spalding Academy and Giles Academy, both part of South Lincolnshire Academies Trust (SLAT), have once again collaborated to support the Give A Gift campaign.

The appeal, which was launched by Coun Harry Drury in conjunction with the Spalding and South Holland Voice, helps to ensure that less fortunate children, aged between three and 14 years, have a gift to open on December 25.

The gifts go to South Holland and Boston Children’s Services who distribute them to those in need in time for Christmas Day.

Staff at both schools were extremely generous with their support of the project – they chose a tag denoting gender and age, then brought in an appropriate gift for that child.

On Monday, Mark Le Sage, of Ella’s Project, went to the school to collect the gifts on behalf of The Voice and transport them back to the office ready for distribution.

SLAT assistant headteacher Daisy Bland said: “We were once again overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown by staff at both Spalding and Giles Academy.

“As a result of their compassionate donations, children who might not have done so otherwise, will now wake up to a gift on Christmas Day.

“We are delighted to be able to support this initiative that so closely mirrors the values of the SLAT.”

There is still time to support the appeal before it closes at 5pm tomorrow (Friday) by dropping your gift off at one of the collection points: The Spalding and South Holland Voice, Goodison Road, Spalding; Spalding Fire Station, West Elloe Avenue (go to the reception door or leave gifts in the porch), Sainsbury’s, Holland Market, Spalding, Courtyard Footcare, Health and Beauty, Swan Street, Spalding and DGG Property Consultants, Pinchbeck Road, Spalding.
