Schools see what forge has to offer

Spalding’s Chain Bridge Forge has showcased what’s on offer during an open evening for schools.

The event enabled forge volunteers to show off the educational resources available to assist with the national curriculum Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.

Subjects covered were local history, blacksmithing including a live demonstration, and the latest edition to the forge, 3D printing.

The 3D printing centre is housed in the newly refurbished section of the forge known as the Innovation Centre.

This area also contains the forge’s extensive collection of blacksmithing and local history books which are available for visitors to refer to.

The evening was well received by the teachers and, as a result, the forge is already planning the first school visit for a class of 24.

Any groups, young or old, wishing to organise a visit can contact the forge via the website – www.chainbridgeforge.co.uk
