Saturday football: Tulips lose key clash, draws for Tigers and Pinchbeck, Moulton Harrox clinch PDFL title

Spalding United were beaten 1-0 by relegation rivals Stocksbridge Park Steels on Saturday, while both Holbeach United and Pinchbeck United were held to draws in the Future Lions UCL Premier Division.

Starting with the Tulips, they slipped up 1-0 in their Evo-Stik NPL East Division “six-pointer” against Steels after a late strike from Morris – assisted by former favourite Jordan Lemon.

The defeat leaves 18th-placed Spalding two points clear of the drop zone – but Carlton Town below them have two games in hand.

In the UCL Premier Division, Pinchbeck drew 2-2 at Eyenesbury Rovers in a cracking contest.

The Knights led twice thanks to goals from Charlie West and Lee Beeson (pen) in either half, but were pegged back twice by the hosts – who had a player sent off when conceding the second-half penalty.

It was also a draw as Holbeach and Rothwell battled out a 1-1 stalemate at Carter’s Park.

Will Bird’s leveller just before the half-time interval secured Danny Hussey’s Tigers a share of the spoils.

Away from the game, Holbeach will now face Daventry Town in the KO Cup final after Deeping Rangers fielded an ineligible player in their 6-2 semi-final win on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Moulton Harrox clinched the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division title with a battling 1-1 draw at Whittlesey Athletic.

It’s the first time the title has come back to Broad Lane since 2016.
