Saturday football: Tigers hit nine, crucial victory for Tulips and Pinchbeck edged out by Deeping

Holbeach United romped to a 9-0 victory over Wellingborough Whitworth on Saturday, while Spalding United picked up a vital 2-1 win at Carlton Town and Pinchbeck United lost 1-0 at home to Deeping Rangers.

For the Tigers, the goals came from Will Bird (3), Jack Smith (2), Josh Ford, Kieran Hamilton, James Tricks and Billy Smith put the Future Lions UCL Premier Division basement boys Whitworth to the sword at Carter’s Park.

It’s now six league wins on the bounce for Danny Hussey’s side, who are now clear in fourth place.

That’s after Pinchbeck suffered a narrow 1-0 home loss against in-form Deeping at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Dan Jarvis got the only goal in the second half, leaving the Knights fifth.

Up in the Evo-Stik NPL East Division, Spalding eased their relegation fears by beating fellow strugglers Carlton 2-1.

James Hugo and Romario Martin netted for Matt Easton’s Tulips, who are now 15th in the table and six points off the foot.

Elsewhere, Moulton Harrox reached the PFA Senior Cup final after a 3-0 win over Stamford Lions at Braod Lane.

All results to follow later on.
