Saturday football: Pinchbeck United too good for rivals Holbeach in FA Vase, away draw for Spalding United

Pinchbeck United romped to a 4-1 FA Vase win over neighbours Holbeach United on Saturday, while Spalding United drew 1-1 at Coleshill Town in the Pitching In NPL Midlands Division.

At the Sir Halley Stewart Playin Field, Avi Vieira gave Pinchbeck an early lead only for Fenn Storey to hit back almost immediately for the Tigers.

That was as good as it got for Holbeach, with Ben Johnson putting the Knights ahead before the break.

Harry Peasgood headed home a third for Lewis Thorogood’s side, before Spencer Weir-Daley rounded off the rout.

The victory is Pinchbeck’s first-ever in the competition, a feat they also managed in the FA Cup earlier this season.

The Knights are also in action at Skegness Town on Monday (3pm).

Meanwhile, an early goal from Dylan Edge (5) gave Spalding the best possible start at Coleshill.

But the hosts hit back two minutes later through Josh Willis and Spalding had to settle for the draw, which keeps them unbeaten in the league.

They host Yaxley on Monday (3pm).
