Saturday football: Holbeach United go second with routine win, Moulton Harrox reach a semi-final

Holbeach United climbed up to second in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division and Moulton Harrox booked their place in the last four of the Lincs Junior Cup on a postponement-ridden Saturday of action.

The Tigers cruised to a 3-0 win over St Andrews thanks to first-half goals from Lewis Leckie, Danny Brooks and Joe Smith at Carter’s Park.

That victory saw Seb Hayes’ side leapfrog rivals Wisbech Town into second place in the standings ahead of Tuesday night’s UCL KO Cup semi-final at Yaxley (7.45pm).

South Holland’s other big two – Spalding United and Pinchbeck United – both saw away games postponed duo to the recent heavy rain.

Spalding remain 13th in Evo-Stik NPL First Division South after their trip to Sheffield FC was called off, while Pinchbeck’s lead at the top of ChromaSport UCL Division One was cut to seven points after their game at Lutterworth Town was rained off.

In the ChromaSport PDFL, Premier Division leaders Moulton Harrox beat Appleby Frodingham 2-0 at Broad Lane to move into the semi-finals of the Lincs Junior Cup.

Their goals came from Louis Steadman and Danny Lambe-Hyner in the second half.

Elsewhere, Sutton Bridge United lost 4-3 at Whittlesey Athletic in the Premier Division, while Long Sutton Athletic defeated hosts Uppingham Town 4-0 in Division One.

There was also a five-goal cracker in the Chairman Championship Shield as Tydd St Mary saw off hosts Crowland Town 3-2 at Snowden Field.
