Saturday football: Holbeach United dealt Daventry defeat, four-some Moulton Harrox show, Tulips beaten

Title hopefuls Holbeach United suffered a 3-1 defeat at Daventry Town on the opening day of the new Future Lions UCL Premier Division season.

Goals from Luke Emery (16 and 19) and Kieran Fitzgerald (85) sunk the Tigers on Saturday, with debutant Billy Smith replying on 37 minutes.

Fellow South Holland side Pinchbeck United were 2-1 winners over Rothwell Corinthians in the same division. Read our full report here.

Spalding United, meanwhile, lost their latest pre-season friendly 2-0 at King’s Lynn Town.

In the ChromaSport PDFL, Moulton Harrox continued their impressive start to the Premier Division season with a 4-1 victory at ICA Sports.

Tydd FC collected their first-ever top tier point with a 1-1 home draw against Stamford Lions, while Long Sutton Athletic were seen off 3-0 at home by Peterborough Sports Development and Holbeach United Reserves suffered a 1-0 Carter’s Park defeat to Thorney.

In Division One, Spalding Town were 1-0 winners at Ramsey Town.
