Saturday football: Ford rescues draw for Holbeach United at Desborough, Spalding and Pinchbeck see games postponed

Holbeach United rescued a late point at Desborough Town on Saturday to make it four games unbeaten in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division.

On a day when both Spalding United and Pinchbeck United saw their games postponed due to the heavy rain, Holbeach looked to be heading for a defeat when Barnes Gladman netted for hosts Desborough late in the first half.

But Josh Ford scored in the sixth minute of added time to make it 1-1 and clinch a point for the Tigers, who sit 12th in the table after six games.

Meanwhile, Pinchbeck’s home date with Quorn was called off early on Saturday morning, while Spalding’s Pitching In NPL South East Division game at Market Drayton Town failed a pitch inspection.

In the ChromaSport PDFL, Moulton Harrox made it three wins from as many games by beating Stamford Lions 3-1 at Broad Lane.

Crowland Town are thire after a fine 3-1 win at ICA Sports, while Holbeach United battled out a 3-3 draw against Cardea at Carter’s Park.

Long Sutton Athletic, meanwhile, suffered a huge 10-1 humbling at Netherton United.
