Santa will be coming to Long Sutton in the run up to Christmas thanks to local businesses.
The traditional Santa Run around the town is not being held this year.
That’s led to Charlotte Parker of The Hair and Beauty Room and Josh Parker of Atlas Plumbing and Heating to act and request he attends the Long Sutton Lighting Up event on Saturday, December 20.
They’ve set up a fundraiser (www.gofundme.com/f/long-sutton-santa) to ensure it’s happening with donations being collected until December 1.
Charlotte said: “For many families in Long Sutton, the annual Santa Run has been one of the most magical moments of the Christmas season.
“Children would stand eagerly at their windows, waiting to see Santa arriving on his sleigh, their faces lighting up with excitement.
“When we heard that the tradition was not going ahead this year, we were devastated.
“Because of everything those volunteers gave to the community, we felt inspired to give something back.
“We wanted to make sure the magic didn’t disappear for the next generation.
“While we aren’t able to run the sleigh around the streets this year, we are thrilled to be bringing a stationary Santa to the Parish Council’s Lighting Up event.
“Thanks to the generous donations from local people and businesses, Santa will once again be there to greet families, hand out teddies, and help make Christmas special for the children of our community.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received so far, and we’re excited to keep this wonderful tradition alive in a new way for Long Sutton.”
