Royal approval for Doninton florist’s design

Donington florist Helen Chambers had a brush with royalty as one of six finalists in the New Covent Garden Market British Flowers Week competition.

The Duchess of Cornwall viewed Helen’s design named ‘The Sprial Meadow’ and she was interviewed by Carol Kirkwood for BBC Breakfast after creating her entry at the Garden Museum, in Lambeth.

Helen, of Evolve Flowers, said: “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall really enjoyed being in The Spiral Meadow.

She said she would have liked a chair and would stay there for the rest of the day then of course she was whisked away!”

After the week-long event, leftover flowers were given away at Springfields Outlet Centre and £216.00 raised in donations for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
