Club president Steve Colby said: “Since we first began the sleigh collection in 1986 there has been so much development in Spalding that we just cannot do it alone any more. The club is very grateful for the help we receive from other groups and we are very pleased to help them financially in this way.
“Our first collection in 1986 raised a little over £1,900 but since then it has steadily risen – or we have got better at it –so that this time, together, we raised more than £12,000.
“In the 31 years since we started, the cumulative total has been just over £220,000 raised through the generosity of the people of Spalding – and we are very grateful for that.
“We have been able to support good causes and people in need of some help or comfort – mainly locally, but often some national good causes and sometimes international well managed schemes.”
Rotary District assistant governor Stephen Holdaway was at the meeting too and said how pleased he was to see the South Holland club working with other local groups.
