Resurgent Pinchbeck United expecting a tough Wellingborough test

Player/boss Ian Dunn has warned his high-flying Pinchbeck United side not to underestimate Saturday’s hosts Wellingborough Town.

The Knights moved back up to fifth in the Future Lions UCL Premier Division table after snapping their three-game losing streak last weekend and are bidding to gather momentum ahead of the busy Christmas period by winning at the Dog and Duck (3pm).

But hosts Wellingborough have proven themselves capable of beating the top teams this season, despite being one of the league’s most inconsistent outfits.

Dunn insists that their recent win over Holbeach United should be all the warning his players need ahead of the trip to Northamptonshire.

He said: “You have to say that Wellingborough are inconsistent.

“They’ve troubled a lot of the so-called better sides, most notably Holbeach the other week.

“But then they’re capable of dropping points against the sides near the bottom.

“We have to presume that they’ll be at their very best and we’ll have to build on last weekend’s victory if we want to get three points.”

Pinchbeck will be without the suspended Jason Field, but will have an otherwise unchanged squad.

Meanwhile, the Knights make the short trip to Holbeach United for a Lincs FA Senior Trophy quarter-final on Wednesday night (7.45pm).

Dunn says he expects both sides to feel “strong teams” and feels it’ll be a tasty warm-up for their big league clash on Boxing Day.
