Heavy rain on Saturday wreaked havoc with the football schedule nation-wide – and South Holland teams didn’t escape the plethora of postponements.
The biggest game to be rained off was Spalding United’s BetVictor NPL South East clash at Frickley Athletic.
A fixture that was hastily brought forward from November, Spalding were perhaps not too worried by the game’s demise given the depleted nature of their squad.
The game of the weekend in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division was also off as Holbeach United’s home date with Shepshed Dynamo was postponed.
The pitch at Carter’s Park was deemed waterlogged and the two big-hitters will have to slug it out later in the season.
South Holland’s other non-league side, Pinchbeck United, were also left kicking their heels.
Ian Dunn’s Knights were due to travel to promoted Lutterworth Town, but a wet pitch also put paid to that fixture.
In the ChromaSport PDFL, all of the Premier Division games involving South Holland sides were called off.
Leading the list of postponements was Moulton Harrox’s League Cup game at Stamford Lions.
Long Sutton Athletic, Holbeach United Reserves and Tydd were also among the other sides left without a fixture.
