Ragdale Hall is the perfect antidote to stresses and strains of everyday life

There’s only a few days to go until Christmas and if you’re still looking for that last minute gift for someone special Ragdale Hall Spa gift vouchers could be the perfect solution.

Total relaxation, luxurious pampering, great food and beautiful surroundings – who wouldn’t love that?

I was recently offered a day to try out the wonderful facilities at Ragdale Hall Spa.

The spa, which is situated in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside, offers everything you need to unwind and forget the stresses and strains of everyday life.

My husband Dan and I arrived at 9.30am for our Refresh and Revive Day and were welcomed by a member of staff who got us a complimentary drink, explained the facilities and layout of the hall and gave us our itineraries.

As day guests, we were given keys to lockers where we were able to store our belongings and change into the fluffy robes provided.

As we had time before our first treatments, we decided to relax in the multi-million pound Thermal Spa.

One of the many pools

The area features an indoor and outdoor waterfall pool (heated to 35c), a unique candle pool and a series of heat and water experiences.

We tried all five of the sauna-type rooms.

The intense experience of the Volcanic Salt Bath was my favourite, while Dan preferred the tropical feeling of the Colour Flow Cave.

As all the rooms offer high humidity, it’s recommended that you spend a maximum of ten minutes in each.

Iced water flannels and the ice fountain offer the perfect way to cool down while providing health benefits such as improving circulation.

We finished off with a dip in the heated outdoor pool.

After this we headed to the atrium where you wait for the therapist who is carrying out your treatment.

The Refresh and Revive Day includes a Blissful Face and Back Therapy or a Soothing Back Massage and Soft Hands Treatment and we both opted for the former.

Once our treatments were done it was time for lunch. A choice of starter is served to your table and then you help yourself to a selection of delicious and healthy hot and cold dishes from the buffet.

As well as the Blissful Face and Back Therapy we treated ourselves to an extra treatment each. I chose a Clarins Pampering Foot Treatment while Dan went for the Elemis Deep Tissue Massage, so after lunch we went back to the atrium for those.

We were both eager to check out Ragdale Hall’s latest exciting development – the Rooftop Infinity Pool and Lounge and refurbished Exercise Pool – but it wasn’t quite ready in time for our visit – it opens this week.

You approach the new area through the remodelled Exercise Pool and proceed to an upper floor where you get the first glimpse of the new Rooftop Pool glistening in the open air.

Heated to 35°C, the water will cocoon you whilst underwater jets massage you, or just take time to admire the view from the infinity edge.

A Rooftop Lounge to enjoy the gorgeous views over the valley below completes the development.

Oh well, it just means we’ll have to go back again!
