QV Foods shake-up starts consultation period with staff

QV Foods is planning to create 125 jobs at its Holbeach Hurn base by consolidating its potato business.

But the proposal has sparked a consultation period with 140 employees at the company’s potato packing site in March.
The business – one of the UK’s leading potato and vegetable growing and packing businesses – says it hopes to minimise redundancies by finding suitable roles for as many of its affected March employees as possible.

A statement said the proposal would “help the company address its cost base and capacity needs for current business volumes whilst creating headroom for future growth”.

A spokesman said: “The owners of QV Foods are fully committed to growing the business for the future, but the company has to have an efficient cost platform on which to do this.
“The proposal to consolidate the potato business at the Holbeach site, which sits at the centre of our farming and packing operations, is a logical step to achieving this.
“We are now entering into consultation with our staff about this proposal; in the meantime it’s business as usual.”

QV Foods, which has a £140million turnover, is owned by AH Worth Ltd.
The business supplies fresh and prepared potatoes and vegetables to retailers, wholesalers, food service outlets and industrial processors across the UK and into Europe.
