A new Pub Watch Scheme has been launched in and around Holbeach in a bid to make the area safer.
The team behind the Tigers Bar have linked up with other establishments to encourage more conversations between themselves, including sharing information to help keep patrons safe.
The Crown, Horse and Groom, WI Hall plus the Rose & Crown in Holbeach Hurn are among the first to sign up.
And Kay Piccavar from the Tigers Bar says it’s been set up with support from Lincolnshire Police and Holbeach Parish Council.
“We had the first meeting recently and it was really positive,” said Kay, a director of the Tigers Bar. “Everyone there really wanted to make the community that bit safer.”
Participants in Pub Watch can talk to each other quickly about any issues that might occur in the town to help each other respond.
Patrons involved with the Holbeach Darts League are also being invited to take part, as are any drinking establishments in that area.
“The idea came as we’ve had a few issues from a very small minority and had to hand out a couple of life time bans as a result,” continued Kay. “What with the issues that have been reported in Carter’s Park, we just want to make our area safer.
“All are welcome into our club, including families.
“We’ve a brilliant relationship with the Holbeach United Junior Football Club so love welcoming children here.
“We want to be as inclusive as possible.
“It’s also about making people feel safer in and around Holbeach.
“It’s so they’re comfortable coming out in the evening.
Kay is looking to add to the community by working with the Spalding branch of Rotary International to Holbeach and is also working with the town’s Community Larder.
