Properties without internet for weeks

A pub is among 25 properties in an area of Spalding that’s been without internet connection for two weeks after a car crash.

A pole outside the Drayman’s Arms in Little London was taken out during Tuesday, April 1, and it is not clear when the issue will be fixed.
Amie Newton, whose family own the pub, said that Openreach had told them it would be fixed ‘within three to four days’.
“It’s really affecting us,” she said. “The juke box is out, we only have one TV which we can show Sky Sports on and we’ve a replacement card machine but it’s really hit and miss.
“We’re having to use customers’ hot spots to take card payments.
“We’re not getting what we pay for especially with the sports channels.
“We’re definitely losing custom as nobody wants to sit in a pub without wi-fi these days.
“Openreach keep asking us to take a picture of the pole that’s been damaged, even though I keep telling them there is no pole there now.”
The Drayman’s was among a number of properties without an internet connection for around two weeks last year after a car hit a telecoms cabinet in London Road.
Residential properties in Campbell’s Close are among those effected this time.
Wendy Lawson, who lives on the road, said: “It’s been two weeks now and we’ve not heard anything at all.”
An Openreach spokesman said: “We’re sorry it’s taking time to get everyone reconnected after our network was damaged in a road traffic accident.
“Repairs can be extremely challenging, complex and time-consuming. Surveying work is being carried out.
“Once this is completed, we’ll work to get people back in service as safely and as soon as possible.”
