Potential Parade volunteers invited to attend training event at Anglia Motel

Volunteers who would like to help at a Remembrance Parade in Holbeach are being invited to a training event on Sunday.

Health and safety will be on the agenda at the Anglia Motel, Fleet Hargate, owned by veteran’s supporter Harold Payne.

He has taken on the organising of an unofficial parade in the town on November 14 after the parish council said it couldn’t fully steward the annual event and cancelled it on health and safety grounds.

The Royal British Legion previously organised the parade but was unable to continue.

There was an immediate backlash from veterans’ groups and Mr Payne held a public meeting at the motel which was attended by more than 60 people earlier this month to discuss his own plans to continue with the parade.

The meeting starts at the motel at 2pm and everyone is invited to go along.
