The thickness of the goalpost denied Pinchbeck United the chance to claim a higher-level scalp in the United Counties League Knockout Cup on Saturday.
Flynn Slater and Elliot Foster both hit the woodwork in the closing stages of the tie that was settled by Damien Osoimoejiokhian’s 85th-minute effort for Northants based hosts Moulton.
Slater was awarded the man of the match honours after a tireless display, which saw him create some great chances against the Premier Division South high-flyers.
The Knights were back in Division One action on Tuesday when they welcomed Southwell City to their temporary Sleaford home.
A win would have put them up to fourth place but they had to settle for a point.
That came from a 0-0 draw thanks to Ben Martin’s 12th-minute penalty save when he dived to his left to deny the visitors.
Southwell also hit a post in the last minute of a game that saw manager Lewis Thorogood give a first start to young defender Tyreece Keating.
