A Spalding postman is pedalling his way 120 miles to Norfolk and back in memory of a colleague who died from cancer.

Ade Mills will take on the cycling challenge on Sunday to raise money for the cancer ward at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital.

He will be joined along the way by Malcolm Smith, Steve Allison and Tony Quinton.

The ride is in memory of Robbie Coats who lost his battle with cancer five years ago.

After Robbie’s death Ade set up a foundation called Ride for Robbie which has raised over £5,500.

Ade said: “Robbie was an amazing man and very well known in Spalding.

“He was a very good cricketer and loved football, especially Manchester United.

“He played as a semi-professional in the 1970s in the same Boston United team as Howard Wilkinson and Jim Smith who went on to manage at the top level.

“Robbie’s other great passion was Northern Soul music. I will always remember him singing and dancing around at work to whatever was on the radio.”
