Post Office asks residents why it should or shouldn’t cross the road

A consultation has been launched into a proposal to move the Spalding Post Office across the road from its current location.

It is currently at the Winsover Centre, but wants to move to the former European Food Store, also on Winsover Road.

The Post Office say the current Postmaster has requested the move to 21 Winsover Road.

A Post Office spokesman said: “Our postmaster’s operate Post Office branches alongside their private retail business, and it is important that they make the very best use of their resources to ensure future sustainability of both their business and the Post Office service.

“In this case, the postmaster has identified an opportunity to move this branch into an alternative new
location to continue to offer Post Office services to the local community.

“The proposed premises is empty and would undergo a refurbishment to incorporate a stationery store with Spalding Post Office.

“The postmaster firmly believes that the move would help to secure continued access to Post Office services locally, as well as supporting the viability of their business.”

The Post Office say the new premises would have two serving positions, one screened and one open plan, and that opening hour and services offered will be the same.

A consultation has been launched which runs until March 5.
