Positives but no points

A positive display from Callum Lawe’s young Holbeach United side was not enough to prevent a 2-0 defeat at Eastern Counties League Division One North early front-runners Stanway Pegasus.

A brace from Callum Griffith, in the 33rd and 71st minutes, condemned the Tigers to a fifth reversal in seven league games and a place in the relegation positions.

Meanwhile, Holbeach are looking for extra hands to help make home matchdays run smoothly.

In an appeal for more volunteers, a club spokesman said: “Whether it’s an hour here or there, helping before, during, or after the game — every bit of support makes a huge difference.

“If you love the club and want to be part of what makes Carter’s Park special, we’d be so grateful to have you on board.”
