Police survey on ‘unreported’ ASB

South Holland Police says anti-social behaviour in the area is being under-reported and officers launched a survey into its effect locally.

As part of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, the local police operation has asked for all instances to be reported.
It comes as well after police cracked down on street drinking in Spalding last weekend, which the force says is its quarterly priority.
South Holland Neighbourhood Inspector Matt Dickinson said: ““Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) gets under reported within South Holland.
“We often find specific behaviours either don’t get reported at the time they are witnessed, or sometimes not at all.
“In order to prioritise my team’s patrols and focus on what matters most to the wider public I need incidents to be reported. If you witness anti-social behaviour, report it.
“Not everything is a Policing matter, but we work in partnership with others such as the community safety team in South Holland District Council.
“Between us we will either be able to deal, signpost onwards or provide advice on who can assist.
“We cannot always attend at the time with competing demands. What we can do however is be aware of what is happening, where it is happening and target our resources accordingly.
“We can use the evidence from reporting to bid for additional resources and put in funding requests to get additional assets for the district. If it’s not reported, we don’t know it’s happened.
“Every report gets reviewed by the team.”
The survey only open to residents in the district is only available online via a link on the South Holland Police Facebook page.
“I would encourage everyone to complete the attached survey,” Insp Dickson said: “It’s designed to understand if people feel confident in reporting anti-social behaviour, do they know how to, where they witness it and what are the barriers we need to tackle to make sure the public have the confidence in reporting to Police and Partners.
“It’s confidential so no person will know who has submitted what response.
“My team and I are here for you. We want to stop crime and ASB, protect the communities from harm and help all those in need. Please do your bit, help us to help you.
“Complete the survey. Report antisocial behaviour.”
During its crackdown in Spalding town centre police say the confiscated alcohol from those drinking in the street.
A spokesman said: “We are working with South Holland District Council to ensure serial perpetrators of street drinking have significant penalties and fines or community protection notices.”
