Police investigating hit-and-run accident in Spalding

A Land Rover Discovery was so badly damaged during a fail-to-stop crash in Spalding that it was undriveable.

The incident happened in London Road, near its junction with Haverfield Road around 10.20pm last Thursday.
The van involved failed to stop and then allegedly ran a red light before crossing High Bridge and entering Church Street.

Land Rover driver Chris Moore (63) said it was a shocking experience.
“I saw this tatty old white van coming towards me at goodness knows how fast,” he said. “It was swerving about and in the end it was on my side of the road. I swerved onto the opposite side but it hit my nearside.”
He added: “It was a bit of a shock, but that’s all thank goodness.”

Police are checking CCTV and Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras in a bid to trace the offending vehicle.

A spokesman said: “The suspect vehicle is described by witnesses as a white car-derived van with a roof rack and possibly blue writing on it.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 400 of 10/9.
