Table-topping Pinchbeck United are gunning to extend their advantage in ChromaSport UCL Division One over Christmas.
That’s the verdict of player/boss Ian Dunn, who wants his Knights to go unbeaten over three tricky festive fixtures.
Pinchbeck kick-off their trio of matches with a home date against Blackstones tomorrow night (Friday, 7.45pm), before visiting Harrowby United on Wednesday (7.45pm) and Potton United on December 30 (3pm).
Dunn admits that nine points would be an amazing haul for his title hopefuls, but accepts that seven – or even five – would be a more realistic aim.
The Knights go into the games seven points clear at the top and are unbeaten in 11 league matches.
“Obviously we want to win every game,” said the striker. “But you have to accept that you can’t do that.
“We’re on a great unbeaten run, so the first aim is to keep that going. We go into the Christmas games with a seven-point lead, so we’d ideally like to extend or maintain that advantage.
“We’ll obviously want to win our home game, but Blackstones won’t be easy.
“Likewise, people will expect us to go to Harrowby and win – but it’s always a tricky place to go.
“Potton is perhaps the stand-out game. We haven’t played them yet and they’ve only lost three league games all season. But everyone sees us as the team to beat at the moment and we have to accept that they’ll raise their game against us.
“We’ll have to adapt for each game and see what we can do. But I’m certainly confident that we’re capable of going unbeaten.”
Pinchbeck are missing the suspended Tony Edwards for the Harrowby and Potton games, while Luke Gardner (groin) could miss the entire festive period.
