Plant puts down solid roots

Dan Plant carried his bat to lead Long Sutton Colts to a 118-run victory over Grimston Lions in the Kevin Grimmer Division of the Mid-Norfolk Sunday League.

He hit three 6s and 16 4s in an unbeaten 72-ball 116, sharing a 92-run fourth-wicket partnership with Ed Blundy-Gent (36) as the hosts reached 219 all out in the 36th over.

After losing half their line-up for 60, Grimston were all out for 101, with James Baker (5-16) doing the most damage.

* Spalding’s Sunday development team were beaten by three wickets at home by Freiston, Leake & Leverton.
Dan Mulley (26) and Oliver Wilson (14) put on 37 for the first wicket and Adam Wilson (36) and captain Richard Riley (23) delivered a 57-run middle-order boost as the hosts reached 160 all out.

Lily Spridgen (3-17) and Milly Hastings (2-21) had Freiston rocking at 40/6 and 76/7 but that was as good as it got, with Abdullah Manzoor (50no) and Richard Paul (38no) easing their team to a winning 162/7 in the 32nd over.
