Plans in the pipeline after success of town’s health and fitness show

Spalding’s Health and Fitness Show was a huge success with more than 300 visitors – even local MP John Hayes and writer Benjamin Zephaniah got in on the action.

The show, organised by Give It Some Fizz Fitness, Sports and Education and sponsored by The Spalding Voice, showcased ways of helping people get fit and active and feel good.

People had the chance to speak to health, fitness and well-being experts – with everything from rambling to zumba on offer, and even try out fitness classes.

The show, at the South Holland Centre, kicked off with a step class by Tracey Vowels of The Fitness Company, followed by her “Nifty Fifties” class.

Janet Gill brought some sparkle to Spalding with a Fit Steps demo and there were high energy aerobics and a HIIT class by Lorraine Elston for the Castle Sports Complex.

Claire Thomas, from Padma Yoga, demonstrated the benefits of yoga and Helen Lea brought a party atmosphere to the show with her lively zumba sessions.

Plenty of people had a go on the smoothie bike brought to the show by South Holland District Council – including Mr Hayes.

Mr Zephaniah took time to chat with exhibitors which included Heroes Gym, Tonic Health and Forever Living.

Organisers Zoe Myall and Holly Barrett said: “We had lots of amazing feedback and hope to organise another show next year. There was a lovely atmosphere and people really enjoyed themselves.”
