A Holbeach supermarket was home to a special variety of pirates.
A weekend of fundraising saw eye patches galore at the Tesco store where plenty of swashbuckling raised a chest full of gold for a good cause.
Well, maybe not gold – but £2,000 was just as good and will go a long way to help fix a roof.
The money has been presented to the Cubs, Scouts, Beavers, Brownies, Guides and Rainbows who are aiming to replace the roof on the town’s Scout Hall.
“The estimate is £6,000 to £8,000 and we have given it a good start,” said Tesco Community Champion Caz Dennis.
“It was my first event and went really well. There were pirates everywhere and all my colleagues either dressed-up or wore a paper hat,” she said.
Face painting was on offer for young visitors and a tombola and raffle were also part of the fun.
Members of the hut committee visited the store on Saturday and collected the cheque as a result of the events.
“We had a great time and there is also a chance the appeal could get chosen for a grant from cash raised from selling the carrier bags,” said Caz.
