Pinchbeck United 0
ON Chenecks 2
It’s now 14 defeats on the spin for Pinchbeck United after a disappointing 2-0 home defeat against Northampton ON Chenecks on Saturday.
Away captain Joe Lewington nodded home the opener four minutes before the break at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, with substitute Matty Reeve wrapping up the points on the hour.
The Knights haven’t picked up a point since the draw at Chenecks back in September and are beginning to look isolated alongside basement boys Sleaford Town in the bottom two of the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division.
Player/boss Ian Dunn, who handed starts to the returning Nick Bishop and the dual registered Ollie Gale, said: “We were poor all over the park, to be honest. We just didn’t do the basics right at all.
“We just didn’t look like scoring all afternoon, despite huffing and puffing as much as we could.
“We gave the ball away far too easily and that put us under pressure.
“I’m always keen to take the positives, though, and we aren’t defending for our lives like we had been earlier in the season.
“Having Bish (Nick Bishop) and Ollie Gale involved gave us more experience in the side, we’re just finding it hard to score goals and it’s difficult to get people in.”
Pinchbeck’s struggles in front of goal continued at the Sir Halley, with Gale – signed on dual forms from Wisbech Town – forcing an early save and Max Gee sending a chance wide of the target.
Keeper Ross Woolley was forced into a decent stop at the other end, but was soon picking the ball out of his net when Lewington headed Mason Thomas’ free kick home.
The second half offered up few highlights, with Reeve – who had been denied twice by Woolley – grabbing the second to hand Pinchbeck a 15th defeat from 18 league games so far this season.
Knights: Woolley, Ross, Worthington, Gilbert, Gaukroger (Foster 60), Bishop, Krashiqi (Parsons 71), Gale, Maltby, Gee, Kacirek (Dunn 64). Not used: Eyes, Shores.
