Chairman Gary Coomes admits that Pinchbeck United could name a new manager before the weekend.
The Knights supremo, who has spoken to numerous candidates, admits that the club have been either unwilling or unable to meet the demands of recent applicants.
That has backed him into a corner, with an in-house appointment now looking more possible.
Both Tom Crozier and Alfie Tate have taken charge of the first team in recent weeks, meaning they are in the box seat for a permanent role.
Coomes said: “People have come in for the job, but we’ve just walked away due to the demands that have come with them.
“We’re not like most UCL clubs and want to do things in a certain way. Sadly, none of the applicants have worked out.
“This has been going on for a bit too long now and I do feel a bit backed into a corner. We need to make an appointment and I’d imagine a decision will be made before the weekend.”
Pinchbeck have endured a testing start to the season, with just one Uhlsport UCL Premier Division point on the board so far and exits from both the Emirates FA Cup and Buildbase FA Vase.
But Coomes hopes to have as many as four new signings, facilitated by their relationship with the Julian Joachim fronted PlayerTraderUK, completed this week.
They could feature in Saturday’s game at eighth-placed Lutterworth Town (3pm), or the home derby with Boston Town on Wednesday (7.45pm).
