Ian Dunn hopes that his search for a new striker is finally over.
The Pinchbeck United manager is hopeful of concluding a deal for ex-Holbeach United frontman James Tricks after putting in a seven-day notice of approach for the FC Parson Drove man.
Tricks could also be joined by two other targets as Knights player/boss Dunn looks to add some much-needed firepower to his squad as they bid to stave off relegation from the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division.
“I’m hopeful that we’ll have at least two strikers in before Saturday’s game,” said Dunn. “I’ve spoken to James Tricks, hopefully he’ll decide to come here.
“He’s playing down in the PDFL, but has played and scored goals at UCL Premier Division level and would be a good addition.
“We certainly need more options in attack, I really think it’d make a big difference if we got a few new strikers in.”
Any new signings would be welcome ahead of a tough Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field derby against Deeping Rangers on Saturday (3pm).
Last Saturday’s trip to Desborough was rained off, leaving Dunn hungry for action as they bid to secure a first point since September 28.
Dunn added: “I felt we had a good chance to get something at Desborough. But Deeping is a different task, they are obviously right up there.
“We’re certainly not scared of them, we got a draw with Rugby earlier in the season. If luck is with us, we could do that again.”
