Penalty shoot-out sees Spalding ladies win thrilling a FA Cup tie

Spalding United Ladies are through to the next round of the FA Cup after winning a penalty shoot-out against Belper on Sunday.

The Tulips were held 2-2 at the Sir Halley Stewart despite Jessica Perrin having put them 2-0 up after 18 minutes.

She scored her first after 12 minutes, finishing well following a fine through ball by Alesha Rix. Perrin then doubled her and her team’s tally with an unstoppable shot.

Spalding missed several chances to extend their lead before Hannah James pulled one back for Belper.

The same player making her debut levelled for Belper shortly before the hour.

Both sides had chances to win it in normal time, but it came down to penalties with Spalding keeper Vickie Foster on form as they won the shoot out 5-3.
