PDFL round-up: Sutton Bridge United grab vital away success

Promotion-chasing Sutton Bridge United picked up an important 3-2 victory at Peterborough Polonia in ChromaSport PDFL Division One on Saturday.

A double from Kurt Scott and Sam Cooper’s effort were enough for second-placed Bridge, despite goals from Adrian Mizia and Piotrek Stepien late in the second half.

They are now seven points clear of third-placed Warboys Town, who do have four games in hand.

Elsewhere in Division One, basement boys Spalding United slumped to a 7-2 reverse at Oundle Town as relegation looms.

In the Premier Division, Holbeach United Reserves romped to a 6-1 win over Langtoft United.

Chris Page’s side have now scored six goals in successive home games.

In Division Two, Spalding Town picked up a 3-1 victory at basement boys Leverington Sports Reserves.

Mark Astley, Thomas Coote and Steven Robinson netted for Town, who climb up to eighth place in the table.

Crowland Town, meanwhile, slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Stamford Lions Reserves.

Also beaten were Tydd St Mary, who went down 3-0 against leaders Whittlesey Athletic A at Memorial Park.

In Division Four, Holbeach Bank kept their promotion bid alive by beating Tydd St Mary Reserves 4-1.

Warren Skeels (2), Calvin Bird and Lewis Machin bagged for Bank, with Marcus Gilbertson the Saints’ scorer.

Whaplode Drove lost 3-2 at home to Premiair in the same division.

In Division Five A, Jordan Clow and Luke Want scored braces as Holbeach United A beat Eunice Huntingdon 4-2.
