PDFL round-up: Semi spot for Moulton Harrox after five-star show, Tydd edged out

A whirlwind start saw Moulton Harrox ease into the Peterborough Senior Cup final by thrashing Eye United 5-0 on Saturday.

Hot favourites Harrox romped into a 4-0 lead inside 25 minutes thanks to goals from Ian Bradbury, Joe Townsend (2) and Declan Earth at Knight Street.

Bradbury then added a headed second after the break to put the final nail in Eye’s coffin as the PDFL Premier Division side emphasised their dominance.

With close to 150 fans attending the clash at Pinchbeck United’s base, Moulton assistant manager Bobby Patterson felt everything went exactly to plan.

Next up for them is another winnable clash as they host Wittering Premiair, again at Pinchbeck, on Saturday.

“I couldn’t really have asked for much more from them,” enthused Patterson. “We wanted to put on a show before the game and to be 4-0 up after 20-odd minutes is pretty impressive.

“It was game over after that and we couldn’t quite keep that tempo going.

“But it was a great performance and exactly what we wanted to see.

“What was also great was seeing what must have been about 150 fans down watching the game.

“I also saw a few faces from the other South Holland clubs and it was really good to see them supporting us.

“The lads thrived on having a few fans to play in front of and hopefully there will be more of the same in the semi-finals.”

Staying in the Senior Cup, underdogs Tydd also gave a fine account of themselves before ultimately succumbing 3-2 at Peterborough North End Sports.

Bradley Easey scored in both halves at Lincoln Road, but strikes from Martyn Fox, Billy Olver and sub Dan Fountain sent the hosts through to a semi-final against Uppingham Town.
