PDFL round-up: First-half strikes send hot Harrox ten points clear

Moulton Harrox took a big step towards landing the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division title on Saturday as they moved ten points clear at the top of the table.

The table-toppers defeated Leverington Sports 2-0 at Broad Lane to extend their advantage, while champions and nearest challengers Netherton United were held to a 2-2 draw by Whittlesey Athletic.

Striker Marcus Parry and midfielder Tom Panton netted the goals for Kev Nottingham’s Harrox in the first half, an advantage they maintained to secure a 20th victory from 24 league games so far this season.

This Saturday sees Moulton make the trip to fifth-placed Holbeach United Reserves (3pm).

Elsewhere in the top tier, the only other game involving a South Holland side to beat the weather was Sutton Bridge United’s 8-0 humbling at Peterborough Sports Development.

In Division One, Crowland Town picked up an impressive 1-1 draw with runaway leaders FC Parson Drove.

Corban Oldham got the goal for Town at Snowden Field, as they became just the third team to take points off the table-toppers this season.

Also in Division One, defending champions Moulton Harrox Reserves were held to a 0-0 draw at Kings Cliffe.

Down in Division Two, it was another day to forget for struggling Whaplode Drove as they were thumped 6-1 at high-flying Cardea.

In Division Four, Holbeach United Sports enjoyed a 3-1 victory at Glinton and Northborough.

Kieron McConnell, Joe Millinson and Jack Holland grabbed the goals.

However, Tydd Reserves lost 8-1 at Wittering Reserves.
