Goals from Louis Steadman and Danny Lambe-Hyner fired Moulton Harrox into the last four of the Lincs Junior Cup on Saturday as they defeated a strong Appleby Frodingham side 2-0 at Broad Lane.
After a goalless first half, a long range free-kick from Louis Steadman gave ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division leaders Moulton a 1-0 lead early in the second half.
Lambe-Hyner, on as a sub, then sealed the victory when he calmly rounded the away keeper before slotting into the empty net.
Harrox’s reward is a home tie against Lincoln Moorlands Railway in the semi-finals on February 3rd (1.30pm).
Nigel Steadman’s side, who now have a free weekend, move on to their pursuit of another trophy on the following Saturday as they visit Whittlesey Athletic in the last eight of the President Premier Shield.
The club – including reigning Division One champions Moulton Reserves – are in the mix for an amazing seven trophies as the season enters its second half.
Harrox: Elderkin, McGuire, Coddington, Patterson, Johnson, Cawthorne, King, Steadman, Townsend, Bradbury, Parry. Sub used: Lambe-Hyner. Not used: Relf, Watkin, Earth, England.
Attendance: 74.
- Long Sutton Athletic moved to within a point of PDFL Division One leaders Moulton Harrox Reserves with a big 4-0 victory at Uppingham Town.
A double from Matty Oliver, plus strikes from Davy Shepherd and Billy Oliver, got the job done for the Magpies – who handed a debut to former Peterborough Northern Star skipper Wilkins Makate.
With a home game against Harrox Reserves in the Chairman Championship Shield next this Saturday, boss Omar Joof is looking forward to seeing what his side can achieve in 2018.
“I expected a slow start,” admitted Joof. “But in the second half we picked up and took control of the game.
“With the leadership of Billy Oliver we went on to play well and won the game comfortably. I’m very pleased with the win and the second half performance and some fantastic football was played in the second half.
“I am expecting a tough game against Moulton – our last encounter with them was a 4-4 draw.
“I have a full squad available and we are all looking forward to the game on Saturday.”
- Tydd St Mary edged out Division One rivals Crowland Town 3-2 in the Chairman Championship Shield on Saturday.
Three players were sent off in the Snowden Field showdown, which the Saints won thanks to goals from Jake Clitheroe (2) and Alan Burch.
A Karl Smith own goal and a Matt Smith strike got Crowland back in the game, but the Saints held firm to progress.
Town’s Liam Rigg and Matt Clough both saw red for two yellow cards in the derby, while Tydd’s Daniel Piccaver was given a straight red card.
Tydd now have a free weekend, while Crowland visit Netherton Reserves on Saturday (2pm).
