Youth was to the fore for Pinchbeck United in Suffolk on Saturday as they picked up their first Thurlow Nunn League, Division One North victory at AFC Sudbury Reserves.
Sixteen-year-old substitute Josh Panton made an immediate impact, coming off the bench to complete the scoring in a 3-1 victory.
Ben Howlett put the Knights ahead after only four minutes. Ben Martin saved a penalty soon after to preserve the visitors’ lead but it was 1-1 at half time.
Howlett hit a post 10 minutes into the second half before Nathan Brettoner marked his return to the club with a goal after 61 minutes. Panton added the third with 10 minutes to go.
Manager Lewis Thorogood fielded two new signings.
As well as Brettoner, 32, who joined from Central Midlands Alliance side Ollerton Town, having previously played for Lincoln United, Sleaford Town, Newark Town and Grantham Town, Luke Cullen also made his debut after joining from AFC Mansfield.
