Palmer’s 180 cannot save him from defeat

Only two games were played in Division A of the Hereward Sports Pinchbeck & District Summer Darts League and it saw Services Club B go nine points clear in second place, thanks to an 18-9 win against Lincoln Arms D.

There was a 180 for Andy Palmer of the Lincoln side but that did not stop him losing 3-0 to Jonny Pell. Ben Chester had a 100 checkout in his pairs game and was involved in the game of the night, squeezing a 2-1 singles win against Dan Gent. Dave Norbury hit a 15-dart last leg to gain a 2-1 win against Stacey Banister.
Third-placed Consti Club C slipped up at the Green Dragon A, losing 14-13. There was a 180 for Scott Williams in his pairs game with Tierney Watson and he also had a 17-dart leg in his 3-0 singles win. It could have been worse for the Consti team but for Paul Faulkner and his sons Josh and Harry winning eight out of nine of their singles legs.
Division B leaders Drayman’s Arms B slipped to their first defeat of the season, playing a rearranged game earlier in the week and losing 16-11 to Consti Club D. They got back to winning ways on Friday with an 18-9 home success against Green Dragon C. Phil Newton had a 16-dart leg in his 3-0 win.
Consti Club D made it two wins in a week with a 14-13 triumph against their A team. Dean Drage got the vital leg in the last game, although losing it 2-1 to Chris Mumby.
Royal Mail Cart gained on the leaders with a 22-5 win at home to Drayman’s Arms A. There was a 17-dart leg for Dalton Sharman in his 3-0 singles win.
Green Dragon Z had a good 16-11 win at Kirton Leisure. Calum Day hit a 109 finish for the Dragon side.

* Spalding League champions Drayman’s Arms A extended their lead at the top of the Division One table with a 6-3 win against Consti E.
Drayman’s went 2-1 up in the pairs and then won four out of the six singles through Kev Newton, Logan Goddard Phil Newton and Josh Grainger. Singles winners for Consti E were Calum Ward and Dan Gent. Logan Goddard had a 123 checkout and Josh Grainger fired in a 100 checkout.
Tigers C won 5-4 against Rose and Crown and are one win away from securing runners-up spot. Simon Hill, Mark Horspool, Ant Richardson, and Duncan Hunt were the singles winners for Tigers C. Simon Hill, Ant Richardson and Duncan Hunt all hit 180s. Simon Hill also fired in a 15-dart leg and Ant Richardson had two 17-dart legs.
There was a 7-2 win for Consti A against Green Dragon. Dragon won the first two pairs games but lost the next seven games. Sam Roberts had a 15-dart leg with a 144 checkout, Jason Vines also had 144 and 130 checkouts as well as an
18-dart leg.
The Division Two title race has been shaken up and three teams currently sit on 18 points at the top with one game to go.
None of them are in opposition so all will be trying their hardest to secure a big win.
Lincoln A romped to a 7-2 win against high-flying Punchbowl A with wins for Dave Bourne, Steve Stancer, Karl Rolfe and Luke Rhodes. The sole singles winner for Punchbowl A was Chris Fidler, who also had an 18-dart leg. Luke Rhodes hit a 17-dart leg in his victory over Simon Fidler.
Shock of the night was bottom-placed Consti D beating Ye Olde Abbey 5-4. After going 2-1 up in the pairs, wins for Jon Robinson and Nick Collins put Consti D on four points in the race to five. Abbey also had singles wins for Craig and Dave Norbury and Scott Lawrence. The all-important game was won 2-0 by captain Ady Smith against Stan Browning to get victory for Consti. Scott Lawrence and JJ Bird had an 18-dart leg in their pairs game.
Tigers B beat Mail Cart 6-3, winning five of the six singles with wins from Richard Brooks, Tyger Atkin, Arthur Porter, Phil Horspool and Mark Robinson. Sole winner for Mail Cart was Daz Lawes. Jacob Herd and Mark Robinson had 180s.
In Division Three, Ship Long Sutton still lead the way and beat title rivals Drayman’s B 6-3. After going 2-1 up in the pairs, wins from Tom Semper, Travis Stapleton, Jake Hinta-Penta and Zach Chapman secured the victory. Drayman’s two singles winners were Wigs Harrison and Graham French.
After going 4-2 down against Punchbowl B, Lincoln B won the final three games to take victory. Wins from Lesley Chamberlain, Nigel Goodwin and John Charlton secured the success.
Stu Adams and Jamie McHugh were the sole singles winners for Punchbowl B.
Oscars kept up their title charge, beating HUSC 5-4. HUSC went in a 4-2 lead with singles wins from Stu Stephens, Mike Ocock and Josh Moyses but Oscars took the game with Andy Taylor, Carl Kirk and Steve Taylor winning the last three games.
