Spalding, Holbeach and Long Sutton have been visited by East Midlands In Bloom judges this week.
With results due in September, there is now a nervous wait for the teams of dedicated people who try to keep our towns looking nice and spick and span year-round.
Kay Jenkinson, chairman of Long Sutton In Bloom, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, says it’s a big undertaking by the 25-30 volunteers – about 1,000 hours in total between February and June.
“We don’t do it for the prizes but it’s nice to be recognised so fingers crossed,” she said. “We made the town look as good as we can and I think people really appreciate it.”
