A family run nursery says it is out of administration.

Mike Opperman of Opperman Plants Ltd on Mallard Road in Low Fulney made the announcement in a social media post last Friday (May 15).

The firm has has 40 members of staff and announced last month that FRP Advisory had been appointed administrators. It also run’s the Oppie’s store at the site.

FRP said in a statement that ‘all jobs have been secured’ as a result of the company being bought by Littleworth Nurseries Ltd, a company formed in 1989 whose sole current directors are is the same Mike Opperman and his wife Jennifer. They have been directors of that company since 1999.

Mike Opperman said in a post on Oppie’s Plants social media: “It’s been quite an awesome experience and something I never intend to repeat again but I would like to thank the tremendous support we’ve had from the solicitors, the bank and the accountants.

“They’ve done a great job supporting us and getting us through this.

“The staff also have done a great job.

“And thanks to the customers who have been coming through to the shop. Thank you so much for supporting us.

“The level of support we’ve had has been quite frankly overwhelming at times. It’s reduced me to tears on more occasions than I would probably choose too.”

Nathan Jones, partner at FRP and Joint Administrator of Opperman Plants Limited, said: “We are pleased to have secured a sale of the business and assets to Littleworth Nurseries Limited, which will enable the business to continue trading and safeguard the remaining jobs.

“Opperman Plants is a well-regarded business with a long history in the horticultural sector, and this transaction provides continuity for customers, suppliers and employees.

“We would like to thank staff for their support and professionalism throughout the administration process.”
