Now it’s March before part of Spalding’s Winsover Road reopens

A road closure in Spalding has been extended by another five weeks – taking the total to two-and-a-half months.

Anglian Water says its request to Lincolnshire County Council Highways for a second extension of the original closure of part of Winsover Road was necessary due to the extremely delicate nature of the sewer repair operation.

Work on site at the junction of Bourne Road and Hawthorn Bank, which began in mid-December, will continue five days a week from 7.30am until 4pm. The residential nature of the area and a need to keep noise to a minimum means that working through the night is not an option.

An Anglian Water spokesman said: “We are very sorry for the disruption caused by our works to repair a collapsed sewer on Winsover Road.

“Due to the close proximity of other utilities such as water and gas and the complex nature of the repair, our team have had to hand dig to expose the collapsed sewer. Excavation work has been completed and work to repair the collapsed sewer is under way.

“The road closure will be in place until the beginning of March, but please be assured we will be working as quickly as possible to get the road reopened and back to normal. A signposted diversion route is in place.”
