Non-league friendly round-up: Big wins for Spalding United and Holbeach United

Both Spalding United and Holbeach United both enjoyed eye-catching friendly victories on Tuesday night.

The Tulips romped to a 4-0 victory at Harrowby United, with the Tigers seeing off higher-graded Wisbech Town 3-0 at Carter’s Park.

Starting with the Tulips, goals from Jamie Jackson (2), Taron Hare and Kegan Everington secured a third win from as many pre-season fixtures – but key man Jenk Acar did pick up a knock.

Last week, goals from George Zuerner and Jackson earned the Tulips a 2-1 win at Bourne Town in their opening pre-season outing on Wednesday night.

Spalding also picked up an 8-1 win over Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue on Saturday, with new signing Lewis Brownhill helping himself to a hat-trick. Youngsters Ted Holliday, Elliott Burrell, Ross Bland and Ryan Buckley got the other goals.

Meanwhile, Holbeach scored three goals in six first-half minutes to sink the Fenmen.

Ex-Wisbech aces Josh Ford and Jon Fairweather shared the goals for the men in black and yellow against a side managed by former boss Seb Hayes.

There was further good news for Holbeach after the game, with striker Michael Frew signing terms ahead of Saturday’s Uhlsport UCL Premier Division opener against Loughborough Univeristy (3pm) at Carter’s Park.

On Saturday, Pinchbeck United picked up a 3-0 victory over much-fancied hosts March Town.

New signing Patryk Kacirek grabbed two goals, with regular goal-getter Maltby rounding off the rout for the Knights.

Pinchbeck start their UCL Premier Division season at Peterborough Northern Star on Friday night (7.45pm).
