Pinchbeck United 0
Worcester City 3
Ian Dunn admitted that Worcester City were just too good for his Pinchbeck United side on Saturday.
The Knights were handed a 3-0 reverse by the Midland Football League Premier Division side at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field – ending their interest in the Buildbase FA Vase for another season.
Despite seeing Ricky Lovelace save an early penalty from Sean Brain early on, goals from Liam Lockett (18) and Brain (28) gave the visitors a 2-0 half-time lead.
Callum Wilson then put through his own net early in the second half to seal Worcester’s win.
Dunn said: “There was a gulf in class between the two teams. Worcester are a very good side and I have no qualms with the result.
“We defended OK throughout, but a few individual errors cost us.
“I’m not too down, we only had one recognised midfielder in Aaron Eyett but gave a decent account of ourselves.”
Knights: Lovelace, Gordon, Hylton (Wilson 13, Edwards 57, Worthington, Nuttell, Ross, Kacirek, Eyett, Kelly (Bissett-Clarke 69), Maltby, Francis. Not used: Evans, Dunn, Gaukroger.
