National award joy for South Holland builder

South Holland-based D Brown Building Contractors are celebrating after scooping a national award.

The firm won Best Large Social Housing Development at the LABC Building Excellence Awards Grand Finals 2021.
A panel of industry experts judged a list of the highest quality projects and teams from around England and Wales to showcase solutions to complex technical or construction issues, site constraints, technical innovation and the building control professionalism that leads to safe, sustainable and high quality construction projects.
The shortlist was made up of the regional winners for each category, which in itself provided fierce competition across the East Midlands before taking the competition against the other ten key regions across England and Wales.
D Brown Building Contractors won the award for its new build housing development at Small Drove in Weston.
The scheme was carried out on behalf of South Holland District Council and involved the demolition of ten post-war prefab bungalows and regeneration of the land with a mixture of 34 new build houses and bungalows provided for shared ownership and affordable rent in the district.
Commercial Director Adam Mayer said: “We are absolutely thrilled to collect this award and to be recognised nationally for the quality levels our team prides itself on. The project was not without its unique challenges, however at every stage the collaboration between the design and delivery teams ensured progress and quality levels were maintained.
“As good as the project delivery itself, equal success has to be placed on the engagement we had with the local community during the works.”
