Pinchbeck United put in a battling performance on Tuesday night against Lincoln United but they were unable to earn a share of the spoils in a 1-0 home defeat.
The Knights are now bottom of the United Counties League Premier Division North after Hucknall Town overtook them with a 5-2 win at Eastwood on Saturday.
A Sam Swinn goal after 20 minutes proved to be the decider for Lincoln.
United did have the better of the majority of the game but Pinchbeck nearly came away with something, particularly when sub Hugo Hunt drew an excellent save out of the visiting side’s keeper in the latter stages of the match.
The Knights also gave a debut to Antigua and Barbuda U20 international Kofi Gonsalves up front who has come in on loan from Sleaford Town.
The bid to get above Hucknall starts now for Pinchbeck who are level on points with them but have a worse goal difference.
Their home form will be the key with just one of their last seven fixtures away from home.
It includes two home games in the next seven days.
First up they take on Ashby Ivanhoe at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field on Satuday.
They then host Boston Town on Tuesday night in a 7.45pm kick off.
Knights: Cox, Fields, Nicholson, Robson, Wallace, Brooks, Neil, Wilkinson, Slater, Young, Gonsalves. Subs: Callaghan, Hunt, Tate.
Attendance: 39.
